About Clay Greene

With more than 36 years of experience in commercial motor vehicle and hazardous materials transportation safety, Clay Greene has dedicated his career to advancing regulatory compliance, operational integrity, and public safety across local, state, and federal levels. His background spans frontline enforcement, complex crash and hazardous materials investigations, national program leadership, policy implementation, and executive oversight within the transportation safety sector.

Throughout his career, Greene served in leadership roles with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, including Division Administrator for Florida and Hazardous Materials Program Manager for FMCSA’s Southern Region. In these positions, he directed large-scale safety initiatives, managed multimillion-dollar grant programs, led multidisciplinary teams, and provided strategic guidance to federal and state partners on complex regulatory and enforcement matters involving commercial transportation safety.

Greene is nationally recognized as a subject matter expert in hazardous materials transportation and FMCSA regulations. Over the course of his career, he trained hundreds of inspectors, investigators, and industry professionals nationwide as a certified Master Instructor and Associate Staff Instructor for the FMCSA National Training Center. He has also provided expert analysis and testimony in both civil and criminal proceedings involving cargo tanks, hazardous materials incidents, motor carrier compliance, and transportation safety operations.

Today, through his consulting practice, Greene assists carriers, shippers, attorneys, and organizations in navigating the increasingly complex world of DOT and HAZMAT compliance. His approach is grounded in practical experience, regulatory clarity, and defensible analysis designed to reduce risk, strengthen safety culture, and support operational success.

At the core of his work is a commitment to clarity, credibility, and collaboration. He believes transportation safety requires more than regulatory knowledge alone. It demands practical insight, sound judgment, and the ability to develop solutions that protect both public safety and operational continuity.
